The Rematch

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. LSU is up, and it gets bigger why? Thier the defending Champions and they are youthful, which means they might stay here for awhile. The things you need in winning a championship they have. Experience, depth, and scoring.

The ability to cause turnovers, reading offenses creates easy and quick points that your opponent under pressure. They’re ball Hawks, and playing with a purpose, but have to careful on transition not to get lost, identifying high screens defending the perimeter. On offense they have weapons, they spread the floor great, making defenses play honest limiting doubles. The more the bigs move, hi-low, in and out the paint, the more they make Iowa’s big work. Their pressure can get them into foul trouble, while the reffing has been tight and probably will only get tighter, look at the refs like court police with your hands up!

The tigers average 86.7 ppg; shooting 46% from the field and 77% from the charity stripe. Six players average in double figures, Aneesha Morrow 2.6 steals, that’s big, along with 16.5ppg 9.9 reb and not the lone star because you have Angel Reese who is the heart and in the center of it all is avgering 18.7ppg, 13.2reb, Flau’jae Johnson 14.7 but 2.1 steals a game.

Iowa has a chip on the shoulder, feeling more than bitter ever after a tough Championship loss last year courtesy of LSU. The feeling may be rightfully deserved. You can feel the electric intensity through the roof. Literally. They’ve flew by opponents, making shots fly lets us know how hungry they are to make it to the “Chip” this year.

The Hawkeyes are shooting 50% from the field, while holding opponents to 38%. The biggest overall threat is avg. C. Clark 32ppg, shooting 40% from 3pt, does it matter if they get some “payback” and swoop down on a tigers eye, that once sealed thier fate? Probably wouldn’t hurt making it all the more sweet.

Meanwhile Sophomore Hannah Stuelke (12.6ppg) who is playing big on the blocks for the Hawkeyes, is making her mark after graduated M. Czinano has left for Wnba. So anything other than the chance to run it back would be like a smack in the face just after losing on game point.

The team avg. 91ppg while holding their opponents to 67.5ppg, a margin of 23.5 amongst the highest in NCAA. Iowa’s ability to shoot as a team, spreads opposing defenses, creates flashing lanes for Stuelke. Game flow and style of tempo will weigh heavily on Iowa, as they like to run up and down, not giving defenses a chance to recover before a shot is up. So playing thier style of play is key, as they lack the physicality of bigger teams, not being able to go deep off the bench as for thier bigs, making Stuelke that much more valuable.~
